After completing her studies in English literature, Film Studies and Scandinavian Studies at the universities of Hamburg (Germany) and Lund (Sweden), Dagmar is currently working on her PhD in Media Culture at Hamburg University, thereby focussing on diasporic identities in transnational British cinema.

Since 1999 Dagmar has been teaching film studies as a part-time lecturer at the University College of Halmstad (Sweden). She has taught courses in film theory, documentary filmmaking, postcolonialism and World Cinema. Her teaching is inspired by poststructuralism, gender and queer studies, postcolonialism and discourse theory.

Since 2006 Dagmar has also been teaching part-time at the department of Scandinavian Studies at Hamburg University.
