In Ozpetek’s film ‘Hamam’ there appears a song, entitled ‘Istanbul’, I believe. It occurs twice: for the first time when Francesco goes to a hamam with Mehmet and then at the very end of the film, when Marta has succumbs to the allure of Istanbul and its gentle breeze and decides to stay.

Does anybody have any details about this song? Is it a popular song? By whom?  What are the lyrics about?

It seems that the director, FERZAN OZPETEK, contributed to writing the lyrics for   “Istanbul Uyurken” (While Istanbul is Sleeping) for which he also directed a video.

It is apparently played by a group called Agricantus.
