Estereotipo racial y discurso cinematográfico

This book, though written in Spanish, focuses on racial stereotypes in non-Spanish cinema (mostly USA). The analysis is divided in two parts: 'Dimensions of Cinematic Racism' (including subsections on 'the roots of stereotyping', 'the rhetoric of documentary films' and 'the aesthetics of racism') and 'From Paternalism to Globalisation' ('the Western', 'postmodern images' and 'multicultural societies'). Films discussed include Broken Blossoms, Nanuk of the North, Beau Geste, Broken Arrow and Die Hard. With a Vengeance, among others. Unlike Chema Castiello's books, which are fact-based and brief, this book engages with a number of critical and theoretical issues relevant to the study of "race" in the cinema.
