One of the very few films that has dealt with Spanish emigration in the 1960s (another one is the documentary El tren de la memoria / Memory Train, 2005). This is a fictionalisation of the director's fond childhood memories of life in Switzerland as an immigrant, and the harsher realities of life in Spain upon return a few years later.
