Desire

Gareth Jones (2011)

United Kingdom

Desire is an intense psychodrama that takes place in the 'diaspora space' of a London-based, middle-class family who employs a nanny of Francophone Black African descent. Nene's exotic allure is such that both husband and wife are physically drawn to her. As Ralph succumbs to his desire, Nene embarks on a passionate relationship with both him and his wife Phoebe which leads all three into areas of emotional and creative transgression. Who is using whom? Who is writing the film called Desire? And where will it end?

The film was written, directed and produced by Gareth Jones, who is a member of the Migrant and Diasporic Cinema Research Network. For more information about his film, the trailer and information on ordering the DVD, see Scenario Films - Desire
