Creole Social and Cultural Studies

This website is part of an ESRC-funded research project led by Professor Robin Cohen which investigates the social scientific value of concepts such as creolization, hybridity, métissage and syncretism which denote mixed identity in a number of different disciplines (sociology, social history, anthropolgy) in Brazil, the South Atlantic/Indian oceans, the Caribbean, West Africa (notably Sierra Leone), the USA and the UK. The website references a large number of relevant resources and provides very useful definitions of contested terms and concepts.
